School holds fundraiser in memory of Hartlepool man

Pupils and staff at a Hartlepool primary school have raised money for the University Hospital of North Tees to honour the memory of a local man.

Pupils and staff at Throston Primary School in Hartlepool have raised £200 for the intensive care unit at the University Hospital of North Tees. The fundraising effort was held in memory of Colin Sutheran, a much-loved Hartlepool resident.

The connection to the cause was personal for the school, as two of its pupils, Lucy Robinson and Thea Wass, are Mr Sutheran’s niece and granddaughter . The school community rallied to support the girls by organising activities to generate funds.

Suzi Campbell, fundraising co-ordinator for the Trust’s charity, stated that the money will be used to support initiatives that improve patient care and staff .

Mark Atkinson, headteacher at Throston Primary, noted that the school remains committed to supporting the NHS. added that the school hopes these efforts will inspire students to consider careers in medicine and nursing.
