Tees Valley’s digital transport work has collected another round of national and international awards, with the region’s traffic technology recognised in both the UK and Canada.
The Tees Valley Traffic Digital Twin uses live information and to the road network and help traffic systems respond to changing conditions. The says it is the UK’s first fully operational region-wide -enabled traffic digital twin integrated into an urban traffic management system.
The wider FUSION project has produced practical results as well as trophies. Across six monitored sites it saved around 5,000 hours of travel time over a year, while delays at some busy locations were cut by half.
