Tees Valley’s popular on-demand bus service expanded

Tees Flex, an on-demand bus service, is expanding its reach across the region after recording over 1,000 passenger journeys per week.

A £3million on-demand bus service is extending its to new locations across the Tees Valley following a period of high demand. Launched in March with a fleet of nine Mercedes Sprinter vehicles, the Tees Flex service has maintained strong patronage despite the wider impact of the pandemic.

From 1 September, the service will include additional key destinations. Residents in Redcar & Cleveland will gain access to Nunthorpe Station and James Cook Hospital, while Hartlepool commuters can reach Greatham Village, Tees Bay Retail Park and Hartlepool College. In Stockton and Darlington, new stops include the Amazon Warehouse, Egglescliffe School and Stockton Riverside College.

Over the last four weeks, the service recorded nearly 4,300 passenger journeys. Customer feedback has remained consistently high, with satisfaction ratings frequently reaching 4.8 out of 5.

To manage travel during the pandemic, safety measures remain in place. These include the mandatory use of face masks and a restriction of six passengers per vehicle. The service operates six days a week and can be booked via a dedicated smartphone app, website, or telephone.
