Teesside International Airport expands routes as demand grows

Teesside International Airport has announced that its Newquay flight service will become year-round, alongside the launch of new connections to Dublin and Southampton.

Teesside International Airport has extended its Cornwall Airport Newquay connection to a year-round service following higher than anticipated demand. The route, which operates twice weekly, will continue beyond its initial September end date to support regional tourism and business travel.

In addition to the Newquay extension, the airport is preparing for the launch of three-times-a-week flights to Dublin starting on 25 September. Daily services to Southampton, aimed at the cruise market, are also scheduled to begin on 7 September.

Manager of Middlesbrough FC, Neil Warnock, who has frequently used the Newquay route, welcomed the expansion. The airport has seen strong performance on its Cornish service, with operators having to increase aircraft capacity shortly after the initial launch in July.

Further connections are planned, with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines set to restart its service to Amsterdam Schiphol on 3 August. To ensure passenger safety, the airport has new measures including increased sanitisation points and requirements for face masks.
