Daleks, a TARDIS and a pair of actors from different eras of Doctor Who are heading for Hopetown Darlington when the railway museum hosts its next Comic Con on Saturday 3 October.
The event runs from 10am to 4pm and leans heavily into time travel, which is a fairly neat fit for a museum built around the place where the modern railway began.
Hopetown has confirmed appearances from Frazer Hines, who played Jamie McCrimmon alongside the Second Doctor, and Colin Spaull, one of the relatively small group of actors to have appeared in both classic and modern Doctor Who. Dalek characters and a TARDIS photo opportunity are also on the programme.
The day is broader than one television universe. Traders will be selling comics, collectibles, art and props, while fans of Marvel, DC, Star Wars and other franchises are also being invited along.
There will be costume competitions in under-14 and 14-plus categories, with trophies and certificates available. Hopetown says Comic Con regulars, first-timers, collectors, cosplayers and families are all welcome.
Adult tickets are £5 and children aged four to 17 are £3. Carers and children under three go free. Admission to the wider Hopetown site is included, although the museum recommends booking in advance because it expects the day to be busy.
