One of children’s publishing’s more unusual crime-fighters is heading for Darlington, complete with songs, cyborg fish and a strong interest in chewing the furniture.
Dog Man: The Musical plays Darlington Hippodrome from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September as part of the production’s 2026 UK tour. Seven performances are scheduled across the three days.
The musical is based on Dav Pilkey’s bestselling Dog Man books. It follows best friends George and Harold as they attempt to turn their comic creation into a stage show, while Dog Man himself tries to keep the city safe from Petey the cat and other threats.
Darlington is one of a relatively small number of UK stops on the production’s first European tour. The tour has included a summer run at London’s Southbank Centre before travelling to theatres around the country.
The Hippodrome lists the show for ages five and over, with an approximate running time of 100 minutes. Performances are at 6pm on Friday; 11am, 2.30pm and 6pm on Saturday; and the same three times on Sunday.
Tickets currently range from £18 to £28, including the venue’s booking fee.
: Local times and ticket information were checked against Darlington Hippodrome. The wider tour was cross-checked against the official Dog Man: The Musical tour site.
