A long stretch of Yorkshire coast is becoming the route for an autumn fundraising challenge supporting hospice care back home in Hartlepool and the Tees Valley.
Alice House Hospice is inviting supporters to take on the Cinder Track Sponsored Walk on Sunday 4 October, covering 21.7 miles from Scarborough to Whitby.
The route follows the former railway line along the coast and is expected to take around seven to eight hours. Entry costs £15, with participants encouraged to raise at least £100 in sponsorship.
Lunch is included thanks to sponsorship from HCH Aesthetics. Optional coach travel back to Hartlepool is available for an additional £15, which should make the logistics of a point-to-point walk rather less heroic.
Participants need to be at least 16. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and have parental or guardian consent.
Alice House says money raised will support its work with patients and families across Hartlepool, the Tees Valley and East Durham. The hospice provides inpatient, day hospice, counselling, and other specialist services.
