Grace Boddy from Hartlepool has donated £3,000 to the intensive care unit at the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The funds were raised during a 100-mile sponsored walk completed in April.
The donation serves as a tribute to her grandmother, Susan Bew, who passed away earlier in the year, and as an expression of gratitude for the care provided to both her grandmother and aunt, Kerri Hyde, who were treated for COVID-19 within the unit.
Describing the care her family received over the winter, Grace noted the dedication of the hospital staff throughout the difficult period. Her aunt, Kerri Hyde, is now making a steady recovery following her .
Monette Baldonasa, matron in the critical care department, accepted the donation on behalf of the Trust. The funds will be used to support the care provided by the department to future patients.
