THREE60 Energy expands Teesside presence with new CF Fertilisers contract

THREE60 Energy has secured a new engineering and design services contract with CF Fertilisers UK, expanding the company’s presence on Teesside and bringing new work to its recently established Billingham hub.

Under the agreement, THREE60 will provide multi-discipline engineering and design services across CF Fertilisers’ facilities at Billingham and North Tees. The company says its teams will draw on a broad range of engineering expertise to help improve operational efficiency at the two industrial sites.

CF Fertilisers UK is the UK subsidiary of global nitrogen manufacturer CF Industries. Its Teesside operations produce fertiliser products used in agricultural supply chains, with the company describing the Billingham and North Tees facilities as two significant industrial process sites in the region.

Growing engineering capability in Billingham

For THREE60, the contract forms part of a wider push into onshore and industrial work alongside its established energy-sector operations. The business has been building its North East presence through a regional office in Billingham, and says the CF contract will support further growth of that local engineering team.

Alasdair Smith, Managing Director of THREE60’s Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning service line, said the award was “an important step in the delivery of our diversification strategy” and a vote of confidence in the capability the company has established in Billingham.

He said THREE60 expects the partnership to develop through 2026 and into CF’s 2027 improvement programme.

According to the company, the work will contribute to the continued build-out of engineering capability from its Billingham office and could create further employment opportunities locally as the team scales to meet CF’s requirements.

Another contract rooted in Teesside industry

The announcement links a growing engineering services business directly with two of Teesside’s long-established industrial sites. It also gives THREE60 a larger foothold in the North East as it broadens the sectors in which it operates.

The value of the contract was not disclosed in the press release.

THREE60 Energy is headquartered in Aberdeen and operates internationally across engineering, operations and systems. The company says it employs more than 1,200 people across more than 20 sites worldwide, with regional headquarters in Houston, Kuala Lumpur and Stavanger alongside its UK operations.

For Teesside, the immediate significance is local: more engineering work being delivered from Billingham, closer ties to major industrial facilities, and the prospect of additional employment as the regional operation grows.
