A 20-year-old film student from Stockton has been selected for an international environmental storytelling programme that could take her work from Teesside to a global audience.

Ashleigh Carter, who Film and Television Production at Teesside University, is the university’s new Planet Forward correspondent. She plans to make films focused on and species reintroduction while working with students from around the world.

Teesside University is one of eight pillar schools in the programme and the only one in Europe. Ashleigh is expected to publish at least four films over nine months, with the strongest work for a competition whose winners travel on a storytelling mission to Alaska.
