households in Stockton-on-Tees have another month to apply for a free boiler service through a council scheme designed to help people get their homes ready for colder weather.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Warm Homes Healthy People scheme is offering free boiler servicing until 30 September 2026 to eligible homeowners with gas central heating.
The offer is aimed at homeowners receiving a means-tested benefit who also meet additional . These include people aged 65 or over, people receiving disability benefits, households affected by certain long-term illnesses made worse by cold weather, families with a child under five whose long-term illness is affected by the cold, and people living with dementia.
The council says the scheme covers boiler servicing only. Residents with air- heat pumps or electric storage heaters are advised to contact the original installer or manufacturer if repairs are needed.
Regular servicing can help keep a boiler working efficiently and identify problems before the colder months arrive, making the remaining September application window particularly useful for households that qualify.
