A Billingham student has used his final year at school to put young men’s alongside academic achievement and student leadership.
Dexter, Head Boy at St Michael’s Catholic Academy, helped raise money and awareness for Teesside-based charity The Headlight Project while also mentoring younger pupils and representing the school at events.
His work included promoting conversations around young men’s mental health, an area where asking for help can still come late. also visited primary schools to support children preparing for the move into secondary education.
Dexter leaves St Michael’s with strong GCSE results, including Grade 9s in Maths and Physics. He will continue at Bede Sixth Form College, studying Maths, Physics and Biology A-levels alongside Further Maths. His school story is a useful reminder that leadership can be measured in what you make easier for the people coming behind you, not only in badges or grades.
