People who enjoy singing but cannot fit a weekly choir into their lives are being offered a one-night version at Stockton Globe this autumn.
Stockton Sings Social returns on Tuesday 13 October for an evening of group singing and socialising with the Stockton Sings Band. No previous singing experience or advance preparation is required.
The idea is low-commitment. Rather than asking people to join a choir, learn a programme over several weeks and make regular rehearsals, the social gives people one evening to turn up and sing together.
It grows out of Stockton Globe’s wider community singing work. The venue’s Community Choir is now in its fourth year, rehearsing weekly under professional vocalist Marina Gears and performing at local events. Stockton Sings has also been used for larger nights at the Globe.
The October social is for people aged 18 and over and has a listed running time of two hours. Stockton Globe’s current event page confirms the date but does not state a start time in the public information retrieved by The Tees, so anyone booking should use the venue’s live ticket page for the final arrival details rather than relying on an assumed time.
For anyone who has thought about joining a choir but found the timetable, formality or long-term commitment a barrier, it is a simple route into making some noise with other people for one night.
Current details and tickets are available from the Stockton Globe box office.
