A 19-year-old Stockton student is heading to one of the world’s best-known arts colleges after discovering an unexpected passion for fashion.
Jacob, from Fairfield, joined the art and design course at Stockton Riverside College knowing wanted a creative career but unsure where it might lead. Exploring different disciplines during the course opened the door to fashion design, and that interest quickly became his focus.
Two years later, he has secured a place at Central Saint Martins in London. Jacob said studying fashion in the capital had become his ambition, and he credited his tutors with giving him the support and freedom to develop ambitious ideas.
The college says its creative courses are designed to give students experience that reflects the way work, including collaboration across different specialisms. For Jacob, that broad start has led to a very specific next chapter: studying fashion in London.
