Claire and Alice marching onwards to Old Trafford in the Big Boro Walk

Boro are set to take 9,500 fans to Old Trafford in the FA Cup this weekend – and one Riverside regular is hoping to match the travelling army pound for pound.

Claire Streeter along with two of her friends, Alice Hutchinson and Abbey Lyle, set out to walk the 106 miles from the Riverside to Old Trafford in Manchester to raise money for MFC Foundation to create a Dementia Hub at the Riverside Stadium. Unfortunately Abbey broke her foot and had to drop out, but as kick off time approaches, Claire and Alice are nearing their destination.

“I’ll be honest,” Claire says, “I didn’t know it was going to be this tough. But all the messages we’re getting, all the encouragement along the way, that keeps us going. I’m doing my best to reply to all the messages, but apologies if I’ve missed anybody!”

Claire worked with the Foundation for six years before joining the EFL Trust, and is hoping her walking challenge will raise vital funds for the Foundation’s work with people living with dementia across the Teesside region.

Claire adds, “It’s been mentally and physically exhausting but we are so grateful for everyone’s support and donations. So far we’ve raised over £9,000 but are more determined than ever to reach £10,000 for MFC Foundation’s Dementia Hub. Please donate, share and get us over the line Middlesbrough FC fans and support your community as well as you support this fantastic club.”
