Teesside University has been awarded the title of 2022 University of the Year at the fourth annual Edufuturists Awards. The accolade recognises the institution's approach to integrating digital technology into its teaching and learning practices.
The Edufuturists awards highlight schools, colleges, and universities that innovative and engaging methods in education. Teesside was selected for its use of digital tools, which the university aims to use to equip students with skills for the modern workplace.
The university’s Future Facing Learning programme provides staff and students with digital tools via the Advance Scheme. This follows other recognition for the institution, including being named an Adobe Creative Campus and an Apple Distinguished School.
Professor Mark Simpson, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching, stated that the award reflects the work put into establishing the institution as a digital-led university. added that the focus remains on ensuring students possess the expertise required for their chosen industries.
