A group of education providers from across the Tees Valley has partnered to form the Teesworks Skills Academy. The is designed to ensure local residents have the specific training required for roles becoming available at the 4,500-acre industrial site.
The academy is led by the Education Training Collective (Etc), which incorporates Stockton Riverside and Redcar and Cleveland Colleges. The also includes Darlington, Middlesbrough, and Hartlepool colleges, as well as Teesside University and the Learning Curve Group. Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council will provide support through its existing training and employment hubs.
The programme follows a demolition and land remediation plan launched in July, which aimed to prepare the site for future investment. The development is to support the creation of tens of thousands of jobs in manufacturing, clean energy, and innovation over the next 25 years.
