Thursday evenings at ARC Stockton are getting a calmer rhythm this September, with the arts centre’s established Tai Chi sessions returning to the Dance Studio.
The weekly class runs at 7.30pm on 3, 10, 17 and 24 September. It is aimed at adults who are comfortable with the basics and want to develop their practice, with movements adapted where needed.
Sessions begin with a short period of stillness before moving into flowing movements, longer sequences, breathing and time spent refining the form. ARC describes the class as supportive and welcoming rather than competitive.
The sessions are led by Mike, who says has taught Tai Chi for 29 years and has been teaching at ARC since the arts centre opened. He also teaches classes elsewhere across Teesside.
Tickets are £6.50, or £5.50 for over-60s. The class is for people aged 18 and over. ARC also operates a companion ticket scheme where a disabled visitor needs someone to accompany them for access reasons.
There is no elaborate kit list either. ARC recommends loose, comfortable clothing, flat supportive shoes or soft-soled trainers and, if you want one, a water bottle.
and booking: Dates, prices, access information and class details were checked directly against ARC Stockton Arts Centre’s official Tai Chi listing.
