Middlesbrough Art Week is returning this September, giving the town ten days of exhibitions, performances and artist-led activity to explore.
The next edition runs from Thursday 24 September to Saturday 3 October 2026. The festival began in 2017 and is powered by The Auxiliary Project Space, working with artists, curators, coordinators and partner organisations.
Over the years, Middlesbrough Art Week has made a habit of using the town itself as part of the programme. Previous editions have put work in familiar public spaces and unexpected buildings, from Centre Square and Middlesbrough Town Hall to old banks and other temporary venues.
The organisers describe the festival as part of a wider effort to support artists in the North East while connecting local practice with artists and ideas from elsewhere in the UK and internationally.
The full 2026 programme is still taking shape, so individual exhibitions and events may be announced closer to September. The dates are confirmed, though: 24 September to 3 October.
