A key Middlesbrough junction is almost ready to return to normal after six months of repairs and improvement work.
The A172/A174 Marton Interchange is due to fully reopen in the early hours of Saturday 5 September, following a programme that began in March.
The 54-year-old structure has undergone concrete repairs beneath the bridge, replacement waterproofing and expansion joints, carriageway resurfacing, new kerbs and footways, plus a new pedestrian parapet and guardrails.
The work has been led by Middlesbrough Council with main contractor Esh Construction. Traffic has continued to use the interchange during much of the project through a contraflow system, alongside some overnight closures.
There will be some final disruption on Thursday and Friday nights while road markings are completed and traffic management is removed.
The council said the work forms part of its wider bridges and structures maintenance programme and thanked motorists for their patience while the repairs were carried out.
Esh Construction said the upgrades are intended to improve the of the interchange and help it continue serving the community for decades.
