Hartlepool’s Headland will become a network of small stages, workshops and gathering places for three days when Headland FolkFest arrives in October.
The festival runs from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 October, using venues across the Headland rather than concentrating everything behind one set of doors.
Borough Hall will host workshops, concerts and a literary stage. St Hilda’s Church has music across all three days as well as a Sunday morning festival service, while Heugh Battery Museum becomes an outdoor stage with performances from Tees Bay Swing Band and Seatones alongside Morris dancing and a Second World War-themed day.
More than a concert programme
The Headland Club is due to host a craft fair, children’s entertainment and an evening concert. The Cosmopolitan Hotel is also part of the programme, with children’s activities in the gardens plus indoor singalongs and group workshops.
That spread is part of what makes the festival useful to the area. It gives people several ways into the weekend, whether they want a full concert, a workshop, something for the children or simply to wander between venues and see what is happening.
The event also connects with the Rising Stars competition taking place in September, which gives local solo performers, duos and groups a route onto the FolkFest stage. The Tees covered that opportunity separately rather than folding the two stories together.
Culture Hartlepool currently lists an early-bird weekend ticket at £78, with family ticket options also available. Individual programme and booking information is available through the official event listing.
Headland FolkFest begins at 6pm on Friday 2 October and continues through Sunday 4 October.
