Hartlepool’s new Street Food Carousel is heading back to Church Square in September, giving the town centre another afternoon built around food, traders and a reason to linger a little longer.

The event returns on Saturday 19 September, following two August dates, with a further outing already scheduled for 31 October. Hartlepool Borough Council has teamed up with North East event organiser Baccanalia to bring the series to the town.

The idea is simple: put good food and independent traders in a central public space, draw people into the heart of Hartlepool and give nearby businesses a share of the extra footfall. The council said food vendors, retailers and other local businesses can also enquire about taking a stall.

Church Square has increasingly been used as a place for public events rather than simply somewhere people pass through. Street Food Carousel adds another regular reason to use the space socially, while giving smaller traders a route into a town-centre audience without needing a permanent shopfront.

The council’s original announcement gives a 4pm to 8pm window for the first event in the series and lists 19 September and 31 October as the remaining dates. Because the later dates are listed separately rather than with individual timings, visitors should check the organiser’s latest information before setting off.

More information is available from Hartlepool Borough Council. Traders interested in taking part can contact Baccanalia through the details included in the council announcement.
