Adults in Hartlepool looking to gain a qualification, change direction or build their skills have a new route into free learning through a £4.5 million local .
Hartlepool Borough Council and Hartlepool College of are working together to offer courses for residents aged 19 and over, backed by Adult Skills Fund investment from .
The programme covers a wide range of subjects. Options listed by the council include English, maths and digital skills alongside bricklaying, welding, health and , accounting, childcare, personal training, leadership and management, women’s hairdressing and airline cabin crew training.
Courses are available at different levels, from pre-entry through to Level 3, with both full-time and part-time routes. The current programme is due to run until the end of July 2027.
The idea is practical: give people more ways to get a first qualification, retrain for a different career or build the skills needed to progress in work. Hartlepool College works with more than 300 employers, helping connect training with the skills businesses are looking for.
