Teesside University has received the Public Sector Award at the Tees Valley BME Achievement Awards, held at the Walled Garden, Kirkleatham, on 3 November 2023. The accolade recognises the institution’s work to embed equality and inclusion for its staff and students.
The event celebrates the contributions of Black and Minority Ethnic individuals and organisations across the region. Staff, student ambassadors, and members of the University’s Ethnic and Cultural Diversity Focus Group attended the ceremony to accept the honour.
The University remains a sponsor of the annual awards, which aim to provide a platform for BME individuals to highlight their successes and contributions to the local community.
Saliah Hameed, the University's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead, noted that the award reflects the institution's corporate values and its commitment to empowering teams to enhance their contributions to the region.
