More than 1,000 students attend virtual Tees Valley Careers Expo

Young people from across the region explored local career opportunities during a digital careers event featuring over 70 employers and training providers.

The annual Tees Valley Careers Expo transitioned to a virtual format this year, with more than 1,000 students joining the live sessions on 18 March. The event, which serves school years 7 to 13, included contributions from 74 organisations, ranging from local apprenticeships to major regional employers such as Fujifilm and EDF.

The online platform hosted live workshops, exhibition stands, and virtual tours designed to assist students with their future education and career pathways. The aims to provide young people with meaningful interactions with the local business community.

While the live portion of the event has concluded, organisers have confirmed that resources, exhibition materials, and workshops will remain available and updated weekly on the event portal until the end of the school year. This ensures that students who could not attend the live sessions can still access the information.

The expo follows a recent milestone for the TeesValleyCareers.com initiative, which has now reached 1,000 pledges of support from local businesses. The programme is designed to ensure students across Teesside, Darlington, and Hartlepool receive consistent opportunities to engage with regional employers.
