Hopetown Darlington is dedicating September to the steam engines, engineering and railway heritage that put Darlington at the heart of railway history. The programme runs from 5 to 27 September and includes Replica Locomotion No. 1 steam rides, Class 37 cab access, theatre performances, live music, locomotive line-ups, workshop access and the Memory of a Journey exhibition on selected dates. Site admission is free, although some activities including miniature steam train rides carry a separate charge. Hopetown is closed on Mondays during the festival period.
